Finishing the Pigs
This last weekend was cold. Perfect for butchering our last 2 pigs. You might remember them from earlier video. Roxanne and Tammy where spotlighted as the 2 heritage breeds that we raised this season. They came to the farm weighing under 30 lbs and have since filled out to about 300lbs. We have some video of them pasturing in the new pen pasture system we built in August. Roxanne and Tammy are the smallest pigs in this film. Check out the picture below and see how nice they finished.
A 300 pound pig will give us about 200 pounds of finished, packaged meat. A farm raised pig on pasture and organic feed is the best pork you will ever taste!
