ABOUT THE FARM
Our mission at Bertrand Farm, Inc. is to connect people to their food and to encourage farming that honors nature, nutrition and the environment. All programs at the farm are hands on, project based, and interactive.
Bertrand Farm was purchased in 1996 by John and Theri Niemier. The vision to become an educational farm facility was born out of Theri’s creative and innovative thinking, her gift for teaching youth, love for nature, and interest in nutrition.
The farm has been evolving ever since and now includes year round activities. Summer camps, Farm to School programming, internships and Community Sponsored Agriculture (CSA) are all programs that keep the farm active year round. These programs work together to provide an ongoing educational experience that includes all ages.
We are located in Niles, Michigan, just 1/4 mile north of the Indiana state line. Bertrand Farm spans nearly eleven acres. The grounds include an active barnyard, three acres of organic vegetable production, and two acres of perennial fruit.
